How it works

A talk in Pollflow, from preparing to the copy everyone keeps

  1. 1 · Prepare

    Slides, and questions between them

A presentation is slides in order. A slide is Markdown (titles, bullets, bold, links) with pictures, its sources, and your notes, for the whole slide or under a single bullet. A slide can ask the room: a question (pick one, pick several, a scale, a ranking, a word cloud, a written answer), or build-the-slide, where the room picks the bullets that belong or puts the steps in order. A question can ask an earlier one again, and the results then show before and after.

Write it in the editor, or as one Markdown file (the format is in the editor's "Edit as Markdown") and import it.

  2. 2 · Start

The join code on the big screen

Press Present. Open the big screen on the projector (signed in, or with a present link typed on a shared computer) and keep the remote on your phone. The first screen shows a QR code and a short address; with teams, one per team.

  3. 3 · The room joins

    A name, nothing else

Each phone picks a pseudonym and is in. A late arrival lands on the current slide and can look back at the slides already shown.

  4. 4 · Present

    Every phone follows your slide

Next, back, open or close the question, reveal: from the phone, the keyboard, or a clicker (it sends Page Down). Arriving on a question opens it; moving on closes it; Reveal shows the right answer and the results on every phone. The screen shows counts and charts, never names. Keys: → or Page Down next, ← or Page Up back, O open or close, R reveal, H hide the live bars, S the scoreboard, Q the join code, F full screen.

  5. 5 · The end

    Everyone keeps their copy

Each phone becomes that person's copy: every slide, every question, their answer and the right one, their before and after, their notes and every source, at a permanent link. A free account keeps it for good, and signing up brings them straight back to it. You keep each session's results under Your presentations.
